POWDER COATING
This finishing option involves applying an electric charge to dry powder fusing it to the surface of the metal, before it’s baked to create a smooth surface. This process produces a hard finish that is significantly more durable than ordinary paints, lasting 15-20 years on average. Various metals can be coated in this way, including zinc, steel, aluminium, iron and even galvanised metal.
GALVANISING
Untreated metal is always at risk of rust or corrosion caused by contact with moisture. Submerging metal in zinc, or galvanising, forms a highly resistant protective coating that prevents metal from oxidising. It provides both cathodic and barrier protection to steel, lasting up to 75 years, making it an extremely worthwhile investment.
ELECTRO ZINC PLATING
Electro zinc plating is similar to our galvanising process, in that zinc is used as the protective coating. However, the process is slightly different as the zinc coating is applied by running electricity through a zinc-based solution, to bond it to the item. This results in a thinner coating, so although this means that it’s not as effective as galvanisation, it is a more affordable option.
